Ode to "Change"

They say change is good for the soul.  They say change stirs the passion within and enables life to happen.  They say life without change is simply not living.  Don't you just love the proverbial "they"?  I, for one, would be very interested in having an actual sit-down with the individuals that make up this authoritative group and pick their brain.  But I'm not really interested in "they".  What I am contemplative about this morning is change.  Big, scary change.  It seems there has been so much of it as of late and I know there is still so much more to come.  I have to admit that I have never been one to embrace change well - on the contrary.  I am definitely one of those who prefers things neat, orderly and somewhat predictable.  Not boring but certain.  Of course it would be silly to knock a good bit of spontaneity or the possible results.  And it is true, sometimes change is a very good thing.  But change or the possibility of change brings about uncertainty and that's the difficulty.  Oh the ambiguity of change.
As I sit here quietly at my desk, contemplating the change that has already effected the new course of my life, I take a deep breath and brace myself for the new changes that are coming.  To this end I am reminded of a quote from a wonderful movie, "When I was younger, I went on a roller coaster ride.  Up, down, up, down.  Oh what a ride!  I always wanted to go again.  You know, it was just so interesting to me that a ride could make me so frightened, so scared, so sick, so excited, and so thrilled all together! Some didn't like it. They went on the merry-go-round. That just goes around. Nothing. I like the roller coaster. You get more out of it." Bring on the change.

  1. I'm with you! The roller coaster is SOO much better and when it's all said and done, you'll be glad you took the chance.

Grins and love to you my sister and friend :-)
