Lady Bugs

When I was a little girl, I would spend hours in the garden looking for lady bugs. Finally, I would just give up and fall asleep in the grass. When I woke up, they were crawling all over me.
~ Katherine, Under the Tuscan Sun (2003)
What is it about human nature that keeps us forever searching for the one thing that can only find us in its own good time? Often without rhyme or reason, it is not the search that brings a desired end result but instead the openess to being found. Whether it is happiness, success or love, we must learn to simply and patiently...wait.
Love is one of those seemingly elusive but sought after things and a lot like those lady bugs. It can’t be forced or coerced but must make its way to us in its own rhythm and its own time. It is our inability for patience and open mindedness that makes us unable to accept that love will eventually come. The danger of course is in trying to make it happen.
Too many of us are busy chasing the lady bugs when in truth, just sitting still and being will be what actually makes them come. And come they will. You just have to believe and have faith and relax. Easy enough to say but not so easy to do. The beauty is that when they do, it is an amazing and wonderous thing. So go ahead, expect the lady bugs. But remember to let them come to you.  If you believe…they will come.
